Detoxification has been one of the more fashionable slogans of recent years. How to perform detoxification of the whole body in order to make it effective?
We feel we need cleansing, we want our body to get some rest from chemical additives, preservatives, colorants and everything that weighs our liver down. We dream of smooth skin, strong nails and shiny hair, and above all, feeling better. And of course, we want to get up in the morning full of energy and drink only two cups of coffee instead of four.
Olive oil and lemon. Do you know what this mixture is capable of? We are constantly looking for ways to effectively cleanse our body, forgetting that often the simplest ways are best.
Before you learn how the olive oil combined with fresh lemon juice affects your liver, you should know something about it. It is one of the largest human body organs and its function, among others, is to convert food into nutrients and, most importantly, to remove or inhibit harmful substances such as alcohol or toxic compounds. It’s involved in blood filtration, metabolism, production and regulation of hormones. Do you know now why you should take care of your liver before trying to detoxify your body?
Olive oil contains monounsaturated fats that reduce cholesterol (both bad and good) , it is also a source of omega-3 and omega-6 acids, as well as oleic acid. By consuming olive oil on a daily basis we not only cleanse our body, but also strengthen the circulatory system, because the oil contains antioxidants, such as tocopherols, which have beneficial influence on the heart. Lemon on the other hand is a source of vitamin C and B, but also proteins, phosphorus and potassium, which is recommended for people suffering from hypertension. And it has an antibacterial effect, too.
